Set up Microsoft Exchange Email on iOS (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch)


  1. Go to Home Screen and click tap on the Settings icon…

  2. Tap on the Mail, Contacts, Calendars settings tab…

  3. Tap on the Add Account… settings tab…

  4. Tap on the Microsoft Exchange tab…

  5. Insert your email address, place campus in the domain and enter your net id username and password then tap on the Next button…
  6. Note: email address is your UTD email address. Username and password are the credentials used to log into the Galaxy page, or into the UTD email page.

  7. The page should refresh and ask for a server. Insert webmail.utdallas.edu then tap on the Next button….

  8. It will ask you what you would like to synchronize with the phone. Make sure that Mail is selected as ON. The other options are at the user’s choice. Tap on Save and you are done.

  9. Now you can always check your UTD Exchange email on your phone by selecting the Mail icon from the Home Screen.

Set up Microsoft Exchange Email on Android 4.2 (Jellybean)

  1. Go to Settings and select Add account under the Accounts section.
  2. Choose Email.
  3. Select Manual Setup and then Exchange.

  4. Fill in the required information as follows:
    • Domain\Username: campus\YourNetID
    • Password: Your NetID password
    • Server: webmail.utdallas.edu
    • Tick both the Use secure connection (SSL) and Accept all SSL certificates boxes.
    • Select Next.


  5. Choose Ok for the next two popups.

  6. Activate the device administrator.
  7. The Setup is complete.

Set up Microsoft Exchange Email in Android 4.2 (Jellybean) with raw IMAP settings.

  1. Go to Settings and select Add account under the Accounts section.
  2. Choose Email.
  3. Select Manual Setup and then IMAP.

  4. Fill in the required information as follows:
    • Username: Your NetID
    • Password: Your NetID password
    • IMAP Server: webmail.utdallas.edu
    • Port: 993
    • Security type: SSL/TLS
    • Select Next.


  5. Fill in the required information as follows:
    • SMTP server: smtpauth.utdallas.edu
    • Port: 587
    • Security type: None
    • Check Require sign-in.
    • Username: Your NetID
    • Password: Your NetID password
    • Select Next.


  6. Tick every box EXCEPT Send email from this account by default and then hit Next.

  7. The Setup is complete.

Set up Microsoft Exchange Email in Windows Phone 8

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Select Email + Accounts.
  3. Select Add an account.
  4. Choose Outlook.
  5. Enter the following information:
    • Email address: NetID@utdallas.edu
    • Password: Your NetID password
    • Hit Sign in


  6. To edit which information syncs, go back to Email + Accounts.
  7. Select the account you wish to edit.
  8. Under Content to sync, select which items you want to syncronize.

  1. From the Home screen, touch Menu Menu key > Settings Settings Shortcut > Add account > Email.
  2. Select the account type you want to set up. If you do not see your account type, select Others.

  3. Enter your Email address and Password and touch Next.

  4. Your device will attempt to complete the setup process, if your email server settings are available. If you select Manual setup, or your provider's settings are not automatically loaded, you will be taken through the following steps.
  5. Select the type of email account you are setting up. You may choose from POP3 account, IMAP account, or Microsoft® Exchange ActiveSync®. We'll walk you through setting up a POP3 account.

  6. Enter your Incoming server settings. This should include your User name, Password, POP3 server, Security type, Port number, and Delete email from server setting. Then touch Next.

  7. Your device will attempt to connect to the incoming server with the settings you have entered. If unsuccessful, you will be prompted to Edit details; confirm your settings and try again. If the connection is successful, you will be taken to the Outgoing server settings screen. Enter your outgoing server settings. This should include your SMTP server, Security type, Port number, Require sign-in, User name, and Password. Then touch Next.

  8. Your device will attempt to connect to the outgoing server with the settings you have entered. If unsuccessful, you will be prompted to Edit details; confirm your settings and try again. If the connection is successful, you will be taken to the Account options screen. Touch Next when you have finished making your selections.

  9. You will be asked to give this internet mail account a unique on-screen name. The unique account name is used to differentiate this account from other email accounts on your mobile device. Enter Your name as you would like it to be displayed on outgoing messages. Touch Done to complete the setup process.

  10. Select an account type to sync with additional accounts, or touch Done with accounts.

Edit Email Account Settings

From the Home screen, touch Menu Menu key > Settings Settings Shortcut> Email > Settings.
You can also access the settings from Apps App Icon > Email Email Icon > Menu Menu key > Settings.

Email Settings
Touch your account name under the Added accounts section for the following options:
Account settings may vary depending on the type of account you are viewing.
  • Account name: Displays the account display name.
  • Your name: Displays the name shown in the from field of your outgoing emails.
  • Signature: When turned on, your device will automatically add the signature to all outgoing messages for this account. Touch Signature to edit the signature that will be sent.
  • Default account: Assign this account as the default account used for outgoing emails.
  • Always Cc/Bcc myself: Includes your email address in either the Cc or Bcc recipient field.
  • Forward with attachment: Allows you to maintain any attachments while forwarding a message.
  • Recent messages: Select the number of recent messages your device should download.
  • Show images: Set the option to show all images when you are viewing emails.
  • Security options: Define advanced security settings, such as Encrypt all outgoing emails or RSA keys.
  • Sync Email: Mark this option to keep your email in sync.
  • Auto download attachments: Automatically download attachments when connected to Wi-Fi®.
  • Size to retrieve emails: Select the email size your device should download. When you open a message that exceeds the size selected, the rest of the message will be downloaded.
  • Auto resend times: Select the number of times your device should try to resend a message after the first attempt fails.
  • Sync schedule: Select the Peak days and Peak hours. Define the interval at which emails are synchronized during Peak and Off-Peak hours.
  • Email notifications: Checking this box will cause an email notification icon to appear within the Notification Panel and the status bar when a new message for this account is received.
  • Select ringtone: Assigns a custom ringtone to be played when this account receives new messages.
  • Vibrate: Choose to set your device to vibrate when a new message comes in.
  • Incoming settings: Adjusts the incoming email server details.
  • Outgoing settings: Adjusts the outgoing email server details.

General Preferences

Touch General preferences for the following options:
  • Auto-advance: You can choose how the email app should behave after you delete a message. You can have the app go to the Next message, Previous message, or Message list.
  • Message preview line: Select the number of lines the email app should show when previewing a message.
  • Email title: Select the title the email app will show in the message list. Choose from Subject or Sender.
  • Confirm deletions: Your device will confirm your desire to delete a message when you mark this option.
  • Quick responses: Edit the quick responses you can use when creating or responding to emails.
  • Priority senders: Manage contacts added to the priority sender list.
  • Email notifications: Checking this box will cause an email notification icon to appear within the Notification Panel and the status bar when a new message for this account is received.
  • Select ringtone: Assigns a custom ringtone to be played when this account receives new messages.
  • Vibrate: Choose to set your device to vibrate when a new message comes in.

Adding Internet Email Accounts

From the Home screen, touch Menu Menu key > Settings Settings Shortcut > Add account > Email.

Note: A green circle indicates a previous account has already been created.

Removing an Email Account

  1. From the Home screen, touch Menu Menu key > Settings Settings Shortcut > Email, and touch your account name.
